Rehabilitation & Exercise Programs

The spine is like a radio tower. Without proper tension and strength of the guy-wires (muscles in the spines case), it will fail and collapse (spinal injuries) on a breezy day. Exercise programs can keep them prepared for the forces of daily living.

Stabilization exercises: Exercises performed to educate and increase endurance of the muscles that protect spine or peripheral joints with normal activities. After injury, they often require retraining.

Strengthening exercises: Exercises added to the stabilization exercises to provide strength and power to the muscles utilized to do our work and athletic activities

Stretching exercises: Can be performed by the patient or assisted by the doctor/physical therapist. They can be used to retrain muscle length and restore lost motion

Manual Therapies

The spine and extremity joints require good motion to maintain the health of those structures. Lost motion should be restored as soon as possible in a progressive and painless manner.

Mobilization: Doctor/physical therapist assisted movement often directed to stiffened joints, tight ligamentous structures and surrounding soft tissues. Performed in a comfortable and graded manner to restore lost motion. Pain is avoided and in most instances it is pain relieving. Optimal results obtained when combined with exercises.

Manipulation/adjustment: Performed by an experienced doctor/physical therapist on selected conditions. Certainly not for every patient or problem presentation but can be helpful for appropriate conditions.

Manual Traction: Often utilized with “pinched nerves” in the neck or back. The doctor/physical therapist can find the correct position to help start relieving the pain and further relieve it with the traction.

Advanced Spinal Strengthening

  • Have you ever experienced back and neck pain greater than 8 weeks?
  • Have you failed to improve with previous treatments or core/stabilizatoin exercise programs elsewhere to your satisfactions?

We can offer leading-edge patented MedX technology so we can test and measure functional parameters of lost motion and strength. Restoring these deficits towards normal can improve (or eliminate) your ongoing neck or back pain, diagnose, and successfully treat the cause of your back or neck pain, which means we can improve (or even eliminate) your ongoing back or neck pain. Leading researchers at the University of Florida and the University of California at San Diego have helped develop the protocols for this computerized testing and rehabilitation equipment which often significantly increases strength and motion up to 200% to 300% in a few short weeks. You will receive one-on-one care with this program uniquely tailored to you and your condition.

In a recent study published in the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, it was noted that 21 MedX sessions kept 35 of 38 patients from having back surgery. MedX has several exclusive features, including isolation of the weak area, pelvis stabilization, controlled range of motion, physiological resistance and torso-mass counterbalance. Dr. Gentry is one of the few in the area specially trained in the MedX technology.

Dr. Gentry has helped way over 2000 patients with this program.

Lifestyle modifications tailored to each individual patient

Patients most often present to a physical therapy or chiropractic office with a painful condition. If the onset was without trauma, such as an automobile accident or fall, the pain is usually a result of the aging process colliding with routine activities of daily living. In either mechanism, identifying the pain generator and teaching the patient simple activity modifications they can start implementing immediately can have a profound impact on faster recovery and avoidance of future episodes of pain.

We also offer traditional physical therapy modalities such as, heat and electrical stimulation, as adjunct therapies for pain relief.
